Paul J. Rashid, 832297, was awarded the Silver Star on 22 November 1943 for his participation in the destruction of the Japanese bombproof shelter near the Burns-Philip warf. He was also shot in the stomach and almost died of these wounds but for some reason he is not listed on the casualties list for Tarawa. His brother, Ed Rashid, was killed on Iwo Jima on 27 February 1945. To my knowledge Paul was a member of and/or attached to 3/8.
