P.F.C. Don "Donnie" Ward was killed at Betio on either 20 November or 23 November. He was from Collinsville, Illinois.
Holding the plaque are Cpl. Edward Thornberg, Sergeant Joseph Fluturx.
The rear row of Marines are PFC Manual Higgins, PFC Harold Hemmer, Cpl Kenneth Bishop.
