Sgt. Myron "Lane" Abbott, D/2/2
Sgt. Abbott was WIA August 1942 on the first day of Guadalcanal and again in January 1943. He was KIA on Tarawa 21 November 1943. According to the DPAA His remains were not located following the battle and he was not identified among remains disinterred from Tarawa following the war. Which means that his remains were moved to make way for construction on the island and when recovery teams were sent to find the buried bodies his remains were not found. Today, Sergeant Abbott is memorialized on the Walls of the Missing at the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines. He entered the USMC from Utah.
