Sgt. Eldon W. Grimm was from Menasha, Wisconsin. He was initially
listed as MIA by the USMC. He was later listed as KIA. His body was
never recovered. Information provided by a Sgt. Earl DeLong to his
parents indicates that "only seven members of Sgt. Grimm's platoon
escaped death in a landing attempt [on the first morning], as the men
were mowed down by a Japanese barrage while aboard the landing barge."
