Cpl. Hupp served in the 2nd Marine Division as a Demolition man in the Pioneer Engineer Battalion. He was cited for heroism on Tarawa in the San Francisco Examiner. His other campaigns were the Solomon Islands 7 August 42 to 7 February 1943, Tarawa, Saipan 15 June to 9 July 1944, Tinian 24 July to 1 August 1944. He also participated in the occupation of Okinawa from 17 September 1945 to 26 October 1945. Cpl. Hupp was decorated with a Silver Star but it is unknown for which campaign.
