Joe Jansen was in Company F, 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines, 2nd Marine Division. He was on Guadalcanal, New Zealand, and killed in the aftermath of Tarawa. Reportedly he and a few other marines were scouting out a place to put a hospital, and a Jap sniper shot him. He later died of wounds. His nephew, Will Walker, is looking for any information on him especially anyone who knew him.
