"Lovell was a live wire. He was carried from his tent, in his bunk while sleeping one night about 200 yards away, to the maintenance shed and was put in a huge crate and nailed shut. He never woke up at all. But in the morning you could hear him screaming a mile away. He was as mad as a wet hen. Of course we didn't know who would da a dirty trick like that. There was still Japs floating around at night, these other Marines were well behaved."
