Sgt. Morris enlisted in the USMC before Pearl Harbor. His nickname was "Jay" or "J.B." He was
deployed to Iceland with the 6th Marines in 1941. By November 1943 he was with B/1/6 and was
killed in action 11/23/43 on the last day of fighting on Betio. Sgt. Morris was married and
originally was from Paragould, Arkansas.
