Mystery Picture


This gun was seen in Clarinda, Iowa at the National Guard Armory.

Once again the invaluable Paul Rivas has identified this field gun. Paul writes:

It's a 155mm Howitzer M1918--Carriage M1918A3. It was based on the WWI French howitzer, the C 17 S 155mm. It was modified by the US using a different breech mechanism. In June 1940 there were 2,971 of these howitzers still in service.
