Pvt. Russell Walter Vocila
Russell vocila was born April 26, 1921, in Garfield Heights, Ohio and was of Romainian ancestry. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on September 22, 1942, and was thereafter sent to fight in the Pacific. On 20 November 1943, Russell was killed in action against the enemy. After the battle Russell was listed as MIA. His remains were among the unidentified dead taken to Schofield Barricks, Hawaii, where in December 3, 1948 the remains "Unknown x-264" wre identified as his and sent for burial to Arlington National Cemetary. Memorial services were held there on May 12, 1949. Russell was presented with the Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic Pacific Campaign medal, Victory medal WWII, and the Purple Heart.
