My Dad is a Marine
I remember in my younger days how kids would often boast about their family's fortune or whose father earned the most. and though I'm sometimes shy in group and slow to intervene, I'd lift my head and interject "My Dad is a Marine!"
"It's thirty years since World War II they'd often scoff and say, forgetting that the lessons learned are just as true today The courage and the vigilance of men in combat green will always make me proud to say "My Dad is a Marine!"
If I have stood for right and good when others turned away; if I have struggled through the night to see the light of day; and if I've conquered obstacles with vision clear and keen; it's more than mere coincidence: "My Dad is a Marine!"
So you can have your samurai and warriors of old; for I can claim a heritage of brave men young and bold. And when your "Super Heros" are no longer on the scene, I'll still be proudly claiming "My Dad is a Marine!"
