LVT(1) #29
LVT 29 and LVT 30 are shown on the deck of the Monrovia. LVT 29 was sunk, presumably from enemy fire.
LVT 29 is forming up for the landing on Betio. The LVTs formed a single line and headed towards the the lagoon. At the appropriate time all turned abreast to head for the beach in their assigned wave. Note LVT 9 in the background.
LVT 29 churns past the scuttled interisland steamer Niminoa. This should place LVT 29 close to the end of the pier.
